HOW DO I TREAT THE BROKEN CAPILLARIES?
Small broken capillaries are more prominent on people with very fair skin who have had excessive exposure to sunlight. These small vessels are easily targetted with a 540nm Intense Pulse Light pulse designed to slowly heat up the red blood cells inside the capillary and coagulate the blood vessel. This destroys the offending capillary and can give a greatly improved appearance to the skin. Areas such as the face, decolletage and legs are commonly treated for capillaries.
CAN ANYTHING TREAT MY FRECKLING?
Freckling, the brown spots that occur on the face with excessive sunlight exposure, are best treated with a short pulse 540nm Intense Pulse Light pulse of short duration. The aim is to quickly heat up the superficial melanin (pigment) of the skin and destroy it. This technique can give remarkable results especially in the ideal patient of very fair skin type.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
Downtime can vary widely for our cosmetic laser treatments and can range from 3-14 days before the patient makes a full recovery. In general, patients with greater skin damage get longer downtime. Those with a lot of freckles need a couple of extra days of work whilst those with mild sun damage often only need the weekend to recover. To minimise your downtime strict avoidance of sunlight both before and after the treatment is mandatory.
WHAT CAN HELP MY LOOSE, DRY SKIN?
Cosmetic lasers even up the complexion and colours of your skin. A skin that has a beautiful even complexion is perceived to have superior hydration, firmness and tightness. Cosmetic lasers in combination with a range of skin care products and facials can greatly help people with sensitive dry skin types.
This is best treated with our advanced fractional laser resurfacing techniques. Our fractional Erbium-yag laser allows the skin to be safely and gently resurfaced to improve the appearance of flat scarring by about 60-75%. It is ideal for people whose acne has resolved and who want to repair the damage done.
Cosmetic Skin Lasers rely on the principle of selective absorption. Different structures in the skin will preferentially absorb a specific wavelengths of light whilst leaving other structures untouched, Thus a light tuned to a peak wavelength of 650nm (red light) will destroy hair follicles whilst a light tuned to the peak 540nm wavelength (green light) will preferentially heat up and destroy the haemoglobin in small blood vessels thus eliminating small spider veins and spider naevi.
